ISF Business Process Consultant, Kedra Baumgardner, earned her certificate as an Information Security Manager (CISM). After studying and reviewing for months, Kedra took the CISM exam in June 2014, and was awarded her certificate in the following August.
The CISM exam covers four project areas: Information Security Governance, Information Risk Management and Compliance, Information Security Program Development and Management, and Information Security Incident Management. The certification is issued by ISACA, the Information Systems Audit and Control Association. ISACA is a non-profit association that serves as a centralized place to access globally accepted standards and practices for information systems. Kedra has been a member with ISACA since 2008.
In the addition to the exam, the certification also requires the applicant to have at least three years of experience in security management and five years in information security. Luckily, Kedra had 25 years.
When asked why this certification was significant, Kedra explained, “ISACA certifications are recognized globally as the industry standard, and many opportunities required certified individuals. My certification will help ISF grow their information security services.”
Indeed, Kedra is giving ISF a leg up in their information security services. As a member of ISACA and her CISM certification, Kedra has endless access to the latest research, best practices, knowledge, and discussions on emerging information security issues and solutions.
