ISF CEO Joins Gov. Scott on Florida Trade Mission to Colombia
From December 2-5, 2012, Cyndy Loomis, CEO of ISF, joined Governor Rick Scott on the Team Florida trade mission hosted by Enterprise Florida. Ms. Loomis joined a group of 190 business leaders representing 116 companies from across Florida to Bogotá, Colombia’s capital and largest city. The goal of this trip was to foster economic growth and stability for both Florida and Colombia.
ISF is familiar with the great opportunities available from Florida’s close ties with Latin American countries such as Colombia. Born in the United States, ISF’s President and founder, Tom Solano, is of Colombian decent. After starting ISF 33 years ago, Mr. Solano began to reconnect with his Colombian heritage by establishing ISF de Colombia with offices in Bogotá and in Colombia’s beautiful coastal city, Cartagena.
So when Gov. Rick Scott announced he was planning a trade mission to Colombia, Ms. Loomis knew what a special opportunity this was. “Our sister company, ISF de Colombia, is one of the many factors that support ISF’s commercial needs. They have helped this company grow in many ways, including in size and work opportunities on both continents. That, in turn, creates more demand for personnel in both Florida and Colombia. It’s really a win-win for both economies.”
New export and trade opportunities continue to grow between Florida and Colombia. Colombia is Florida’s second largest trading partner with over $9 billion in two-way trade in 2011 alone. It has already been reported that this 2012 Florida trade mission trip has netted Florida $40 million in sales from the groups and businesses that attended, with more reports coming in. ISF plans to continue to utilize its Colombian sister company to aid in its growing commercial needs. For more information on the services that ISF provides, visit www.isf.com.
