ISF CEO, Cyndy Loomis, and Client Partner, Jonathan Conrad, attended a national conference this month to promote the firm’s Management Information Payment System, also known as MIPS, to a national audience.
The 2012 Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) National Professional Association (NPA) Biennial Conference was held in Austin, Texas from April 11-13. Representatives from nearly all 50 states were in attendance at the 3-day conference, at which best practices in food and nutrition programs were the focus.
ISF originally developed MIPS for the State of Florida Department of Health (FDOH) in 1998. Today, the system is used by the Florida Department of Health to process $87 million in annual federal food claims submitted by more than 1,700 homeless shelters, child care centers, day care home providers, and after school programs, ensuring Florida’s children receive nutritious meals and snacks. The system, which has successfully automated and modernized the claims management process for the department and streamlined the process for child care providers across the state, has been authorized for use throughout the country. This will allow every state to leverage the investment made by the FDOH and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to create and enhance the system over the years.
“ISF is proud of its 14-year history with MIPS and is excited about the prospect of customizing the system for use in other states,” said Conrad, who is based out of ISF’s Tallahassee, Florida office. “We have staff that have been with this system since the beginning and have a thorough understanding of the data interactions that need to occur to keep these vital food and nutrition programs running smoothly. MIPS is also ripe for implementation in other states through a P3 (Public-Private partnership) model. It’s a flexible, scalable, proven system.”
ISF’s next step is follow-up. “We made some great contacts at the conference,” Conrad said. “Now we just need to talk with these folks one-on-one to identify the best way to move forward in order to meet their individual needs.”
